One Line Bio (unofficial):

My heart can still be found on the prairies of South Dakota where I grew up. I am deeply connected to land and sometimes feel boxed in here in the city. I dream about opening up a restaurant on the coast of Maine. I love capturing stories through film and photography, the more ordinary the better. I believe the sacred is found in the ordinary. I also feel it is my mission in life to make sure we don’t forget how to have fun and enjoy what we have!

Literary Musings:

Well, I am in grad school so my literary musings are dictated to me these days. However, when I find time to read I go to poetry. Rumi, Rilke, and Kahlil Gibran are at the top of my list. I am also a big fan of Wendell Berry, Audre Lorde, Richard Rohr, T. S. Elliott and Thomas Merton to name a few. I find myself drawn to people who invite me into deep mystery.

People who inspire me:

People who take risks always inspire me. Whether it is to get on stage and sing karaoke or to stand up to stranger who just made a racist comment. Dorothy Day, Fred Hampton, and Deb Ernst are three people who have inspired me because of what they risked in order to stand up for what they believed.

Little Known Fact:

I have a signature dance move. Drop a beat and I will bust a move.

Best meal you have ever had:

The meal I still think about was in Minneapolis at Bar La Grassa. I just remember that I never wanted it to end. If you are ever in Minneapolis, check it out. Also, another favorite is the original juicy lucy from Matt’s Bar, a burger stuffed with cheese, served with fries and a cold beer.

Who I’d Like to Meet:

I am going modify this question and give a list of people I would want to have dinner with… Kara Walker, Ben Harper, Ellen Degeneres, Brene Brown, Richard Rohr, and Ahmir Khalib Thompson

Favorite Quote:

“Beyond our ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing,there is a field. I’ll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about. Ideas, language, even the phrase ‘each other’ doesn’t make sense any more.” ― Rumi
